Object:
The object of BlueBalls is to advance through the increasingly
difficult levels by destroying all the "blue balls" which pop up on
each screen. Extra lives are awarded every five levels. Running into
the walls, the trail of multicolored balls, or the black balls will
end a life.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Command line:
Options:
-s### initial speed > ### must be between 1(slow) & 10(fast)
-l### starting level > ### must be less than or equal to 50
-n### number of lives > ### must be less than or equal to 10000
-q### CPU speed > ### must be between 4 and 40 Mhz
-r### registration
-c cheat mode
### is an integer for all options, except registration where
it's a string of characters.
Input Syntax:
* No spaces are allowed between options and ###.
* Options aren't case sensitive (q=Q).
* Options can be typed "-s1l1n5q20" or "-s1 -l1 -n5 -q20".
* BlueBalls will display the available options if it is given
characters it doesn't understand (i.e. "bb3.exe -z", -z isn't a
legal option).
The default options are "-s1 -l1 -n5 -q20":
Speed = 1 (slow)
Level = 1
Lives = 5
Cpu Speed = 20
To start a game with:
default > type "bb3.exe"
average speed > type "bb3.exe -s5"
cheat mode > type "bb3.exe -c" (Hint: Press '5' in game)
Registration:
Entering a registration number only has to be done once. After
BlueBalls is given a correct license number, that number is
stored in a file named "reg_num.blu".
DO NOT DISTRIBUTE YOUR REGISTRATION NUMBER.
REMOVE THIS FILE WHEN UPLOADING OR DISTRIBUTING.

Quick Description:
Regular Mode:
There are two pauses (the space bar), allowed on each level. The
numeric key pad guides the user dot (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, and in all
directions diagonally). Sound can be toggled on or off using the '-'
(minus) key. To quit BlueBalls hit the ESCAPE key.
Every five levels the user earns another life. With every new life
awarded the speed increases two levels. The score is determined by the
amount of time it takes to hit a blue ball. The faster one is hit, the
more the points. The maximum number of points that can be received
from one blue ball hit is 2000. If seven seconds pass before a blue
ball is hit only 500 points are awarded.
Green mines with red flashing lights will explode after a short period
of time if they aren't captured. The flashing red light will increase
in frequency about a second before it explodes. When you hit a mine
250 points will be added to your score. If the mine explodes (leaving
a black and blue hole) your score will be reduced 250 points and red
dots will no longer disappear.
Hitting orange and yellow orbs will increase your score by 250 points
and will stop red dots from being produced for ten seconds. If these
orbs aren't hit within a few seconds they will disappear. There is no
penalty for not hitting an orbs before it disappears.
Scores are increased 15% when a level is advanced and 45% when a new
round (all levels have been completed) is started. Higher rounds
contain different objects to avoid.
Cheat Mode:
Only one ball must be hit on each level, there are an unlimited number
of pauses, and the speed doesn't increase. No extra points are
awarded. Pressing '5' during play erases ten red trail balls (unless
mines have exploded).
Trail of Red Balls:
In early rounds the trail of red balls will begin to disappear as the
user dot is maneuvered around the screen. In higher rounds the length
of the red dot trail increases.
Num Lock Key:
The number lock key is automatically turned on at the start of a game
and returned to it's original position when BlueBalls is exited.
High Scores:
When you're prompted to type in your name remember to press ENTER,
but if you forget ENTER will be pressed automatically about ten
seconds after the last character in your name is typed.
Quitting:
The ESC (escape) key exits from anywhere in BlueBalls.
Forget to turn off BlueBalls?
If BlueBalls is left idle for a long period of time, it will turn
itself off. When BlueBalls sits idle, the introduction screen and high
scores will cycle for ten minutes, then BlueBalls will return to the
command line.

History:
This program was originally written as an independent study project
for R. Drabek at the computer science department of the University of
Arizona.
I was originally inspired to write a computer game which encapsulated
a forgotten, and yet common and painful condition experienced by
millions of men around the world. I have personal endured years of
intermittent episodes of the debilitating blue-balls.
After attending a few months of B.B.A. (Blue Ball Anonymous) I
concluded that it was time for someone, one courageous man, to raise
up his voice and to let other know that having blue-balls is nothing
to be ashamed about.
My goal is to spread the word that blue-balls exists, and working
together we can eradicate this pain and suffering before the end of
the century.
Special thanks to Philip A. Mongelluzzo and
the many distributors of BlueBalls around the world.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charity:
I'm donating 10% of all the profits from this game to The BlueBall
Help Fund, a collection of money from people like you, designed to
help our brothers world wide fight BB and help families pay for
extended hospitalization due to BB.
